SHINee’s Kim Jong-Hyun passes away


K-POP star Kim Jong-Hyun lead singer of pop group SHINee has tragically passed away at age 27 After being found unconscious at his home in Seoul earlier today on Monday evening December 18th.

Kim Jong-Hyun was found unconscious at his apartment and has been rushed to the Konkuk University Hospital in Seoul where he sadly passed away.

Jong-Hyun’s sister reported to the police that her brother was about to commit suicide at 4:42pm KST after receiving a last text message from him saying: "It's been really hard up until now. Send me off please. Tell everyone I've suffered. This is my last greeting." The police later confirmed that the 27-year- old pop star attempted to commit suicide as they found coal briquettes lit inside a frying pan.

S.M. Entertainment Jong-Hyun's agency released an official statement regarding the singer's sudden death “Jonghyun was the best artist, who loved music more than anyone else and always did his best for his performances,” they said. According to the family's wishes, his funeral will be held as quietly as possible with only family, friends, and colleagues.

Jong-Hyun was worldwide known as the lead singer of the South-Korean pop group SHINee, formed in Seoul under S.M. Entertainment in 2008 joined by members Lee Taemin, Choi Minho, Onew, and Key.

The guys gained huge success after their Japanese debut single in 2010 with their Japanese version of their single "Replay" which sold over 100,000 copies, the highest number of sales for a Japanese debut at that time, followed by big hits like Lucifer and Ring Ding Dong.
